Recently, I ran across a picture my friend had taken of a beautiful sunset as a passenger in her car. But, it was hard to focus on the beauty of the sunset because of all the bugs that were splattered on the windshield in front of that sunset. She obviously wanted to capture the beauty of the sunset that was in front of her, but was most likely frustrated at all the bugs in the way.
This got me thinking. Most of us have been on a vacation driving somewhere and have had this happen. We want to remember the time we are spending with our loved ones and capture that awesome sunset you all saw on your 14 hour trip in the car on the way to the beach. Or the “Welcome to California” sign you passed on the way.
I wanted do a blog post about how to remedy this problem… without sticking your camera or phone out the window and having it possibly slip out of your hands at 75mph and crash to the ground in a million pieces.
Here’s how to do it in 2 easy steps:
1. Place the lens of your camera all the way up to the windshield so it’s touching, or almost touching, the glass.
2. Take the picture!
This is before I put my camera up to the glass:
And this is after:
It’s not completely perfect but it does helps a ton. Especially if we don’t want our cameras in a million pieces on the freeway.
On atuo focus, our cameras don’t know what we are trying to take a picture of. So it guesses. By putting the lens all the way up to the windshield, it cannot focus on all the bugs smattered on it. It makes those bugs go out of focus and lets you focus on what your really wanting to capture. Your beautiful sunset so that you can keep it forever and ever.
Leave some love by commenting and telling me what you think. Or if you’ve tried this before. I’d love to know.
