New Name!

Yep, I finally did it. I officially jumped off the cliff (that’s what it feels like anyway) and changed my business name to Katie Gee Photography. It’s not easy starting over. Coming up with a new logo, redoing a new website, telling the state that I am changing my business name, telling the bank that I changed it so I could change my name with them and so many more other things. But! It was worth it. I feel better about this. More confident than before too.

It was a long time coming. I actually legally changed the name 1 1/2 years ago but was too afraid to tell anybody. Fear. That’s the thing that seems to get in the way the most. Who else lets fear get in the way? Oh, really?  Almost everybody? I knew I wasn’t alone.

Everything below this post is going to have watermarks for my old business name, Painted Daisy Photography. I think I watermarked everything! Haha!

I liked the old name but it was time to change. Using my name makes it more simple. I feel more professional.

Hamaker girls

You know, kids grow.  They grow and you can’t stop it.  This is not a new concept.  I know.  But it’s dawning on me more now that my kids are getting older.  My youngest is almost 7 and I honestly can’t believe it.  How did this happen?  Life goes on even when we want it to stop.

These girlies are growing up too.  So fast.  And I bet if you ask their Mom and Dad, they’d say they can’t believe their oldest is 3 1/2.  It goes by so fast.

Katie’s Baptism Session

Katie’s getting baptized!  8 is certainly great!

Katie is my cousin’s daughter. She had a fever on the day we were going to do take her baptism pictures. So, we decided that we would take them during our family Christmas party.  I brought a backdrop and set it up in front of my Mom’s sliding glass door in the back of the house.  It worked great!  I don’t shoot indoor-natural light very often but sometimes you just work with whatever you’re given.  I think they turned out super cute.

Eichert/Watts – Extended Family

Snow!  The snow had fallen the day before, dumping 8 inches of the beautiful white stuff on our location spot.  Hallelujah!  It was beautiful!  This shoot made me want to go into the canyon and take some more styled snowy pictures.  Anybody up for it?

In the meantime, here’s the pictures from the Eichert/Watts extended family shoot (my Aunt and her kids, and grandkids. To be exact.)  I had done Jocelyn’s senior pictures a few months before.  You can see her session here.  Love these guys!

My Family

My sweet family knows that every year we get our family pictures taken.  By me.  Well, this might be the last year I stick the camera on the tripod, set the timer and run.  It might have been the epic new shoes I was wearing that made me not enjoy it so much this year, I don’t know.  But I’m asking one of my 105 photographer friends to take them next year instead!  HAHA!

I love these guys.  <3
